Beginners Clubs

The first step in purchasing golf equipment is to determine your budget. Once you get to that golf store and get the best club in your hand, you may just overspend. The basic equipment that all good golfers have is a set of clubs, tees, gloves, and golf balls.

A basic set of golf clubs will include woods, irons, putters, and wedges. The types of these clubs that you end up purchasing will depend on how they feel in your hand and through your swing. Other golf equipment to consider includes shoes, balls, gloves, clothing and more.

The basic golf equipment should be the first order of business for you. Once you have these items you can move into getting the other golf equipment you may find.

Hybrid Clubs

The terms "utility clubs" and "hybrid clubs" are generally used interchangeably. They denote a category of clubs that combine elements of both woods and irons into their design.

Utility clubs and hybrids are a relatively recent addition to the pantheon of golf clubs. They are growing in popularity because they are designed to be easier to hit for recreational golfers.

Many beginners would do well to consider, if shopping for a brand new set of clubs, a "hybrid set" or "hybrid irons set." In hybrid sets, the long irons (typically 3- and 4-irons) are replaced with utility clubs designed to hit the ball the same distances.

This combination of elements from both irons and woods adds up to utility clubs having technical features that aid in getting the ball airborne, that dampen the effects of mishits, and other things that are pluses for recreational golfers and beginners.
